Children’s Faith Formation is a sharing in Jesus’ mission of proclaiming the Kingdom of God. "The ministry of evangelization carried out by Christian parents is original and irreplaceable." ( Familiaris Consortio, St. Pope John Paul II) While parents may share this responsibility with others, they do not surrender it.
St.Thomas the Apostle supports parents in passing on their faith through the ministry of catechesis. Catechists’ help children build and strengthen their relationship with Jesus. Through proclaiming the Word, building a sense of community, leading prayer and worship, our catechists encourage loving service to others through the witness to the Gospel in their own lives. The process of catechesis and formation seeks to open children to the goodness and beauty of God reflected in their world and help them to experience this world within the Catholic Christian community.
