Fr. Pedro Arrupe: His Life and Legacy Pedro Arrupe, S.J. has been called "The Second Founder" of the Society of Jesus. Fr. Arrupe experienced world events like the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Vatican II that helped shape his interior life. He was chosen to lead the Jesuits through a tumultuous period of ecclesial and cultural renewal after the Second Vatican Council. In the spirit of Ignatius Loyola who sought the greater glory of God and the wellbeing of humankind, Arrupe supported a spirituality intended to engage the world rather than to retreat from it. Like Ignatius, he saw spirituality for lay men and women as well as the Jesuits, one that enriches the whole world through the service of faith and prayer and the promotion of justice. All are welcome to attend. No registration. Just join us. We begin with prayer with Scripture then go to the presentation for study and discussion. For more info, Mary Frazier at [email protected]
